Had that Qutub Minaar made a symbol of spiritual love-me and you?my heart says so……

In Black and White The last song filmed in Qutab Minar. “Dil Ka Bhanwar Kare Pukar” from the film Tere Ghar Ke Saamne, featuring the “evergreen” Dev Anand and the pretty Nutan (who, by the way, is Mohnish Behl’s mom – now you know who he gets his smile from. The resemblance is uncanny). While today’s movies (most of them, anyway) involve the actors prancing about a hundred different foreign locations – 30 seconds at a beach in Miami, the next 30 in the Alps and the remaining at some equally exotic spot, this entire song was shot inside Qutab Minar, Delhi. While Dev Anand tries to woo his love, all Nutan does in this song is flash her smile and bat her eyelashes, and in that lies the beauty of this song sung by Rafi Saab. Who can choreograph a song today, where all the actors have to do is walk down the Minar, surrounded only by stone walls and a staircase, with not even a speck of sky around?


     
And for close to 5 minutes, at that! One would think of the entire scene as dull and dreary, but Nutan’s sparkling eyes light up the song and Dev Anand’s charm splashed it with colour, if you know what I mean. Anyway, I am sure you are wondering why this was the last song filmed in Qutab Minar. 

friend of mine told me that he had gone to Delhi with his parents to see Qutab Minar and when they wanted to climb up, they were refused. Apparently, there was a stampede inside the Minar while a group of school kids was on tour – several were injured and a few  died too. Thereafter, no one was allowed to go up and entry was permanently sealed. So there. I personally feel though, that no one could have possibly done a better job than Dev Anand and Nutan with this song.Cheers to them.
